The Haskell Journal

The official newsletter of the Haskell Family Association: news of family members, reunions, articles about Haskells, Haskell locales, genealogy and history. Published three times a year, normally twenty-eight pages. A subscription is included with membership.

History

From San Francisco, 1898

The first issues of Volume I were privately published as The Haskell Journal, a Monthly Magazine devoted to the History, Genealogy, Biography and Current News of the Haskell Family in America by D. H. Haskell, R. R. Haskell and B. C. Haskell, all of California. The editor and manager was the infamous and storied Burnette Gregor Haskell (1857–1907) — attorney, wild political and labor activist, and member of the San Francisco Bar Association. Only four issues appeared, January through April 1898, before publication ceased for want of subscribers and money.

The first Haskell Family Association was formed in 1911 in Rochester, Massachusetts, and disbanded in 1925. In 1984 Win Haskell and Ola Mae set about reestablishing both the association and the Journal, beginning with Volume II, Issue 5, and naming the 1898 issues Volume I.

Four issues followed in 1985, and the Journal has appeared every year since. Issue 100 was published in 2016.

Issue 5: To Haskells Everywhere (1984)
Issue 6: Vol. II, No. 2, Winter 1985
Issue 7: Vol. II, No. 3, Spring 1985
